A little about a small event marketing company based in Chicago, IL called Eshots or Eventshots, Inc...
At first look, it appears to be an innovative new business making its mark in the industry as a savvy, hip marketing/technology company. They boast about having a "fun" working atmosphere, being innovators in the use of the latest technology, and opportunities to gain valuable industry experience. Nothing, and I do stress the word nothing, could be further from the truth.
First and foremost what you get with this company is a salary/hourly wage that is well below industry average. They low ball on compensation and attempt to make up for it by having company parties/outings and throwing their full timers a bonus at the end of the year.
Next, that "fun" working environment is a complete myth. This company expects their employees to work 'round the clock. The work load each person carries almost demands it. Many employees are forced to take work home with them regularly. It would be great if there was over-time paid for these contributions, but at Eshots no such thing exists. In addition, all employees have to work 3-4 events a year so the company won't have to pay an event staff.
On top of that, the company is extremely disorganized, with no two people, or departments for that matter, ever being on the same page. For a business that proclaims to be leaders in the industry you would think interoffice communication would be mastered. Not so.
This company is big on creating new processes for every little thing, which change from week to week. The learning curve for coming on board is anywhere from three to six months, mainly because there is virtually no training provided. You are basically in a sink or swim situation in a pool of sharks.
If you're looking for a low salaried, high stress, overwhelming type of position take the time to apply for one of the ongoing jobs they are trying to fill (the turnover rate almost parallels the new hires).
Good luck!
