Took this job for the extra income. Started out unusual. Should have seen it as a potential problem. The Office staff and the Field staff have very poor communcation and they do not have any sense of urgency about calling you back.
After interviewng for a supplemental job, and told the payrate, it was switched as were my duties and assignment. Basically, left messages and got emails back although I was already working. The local people and the customer were nice enough so I stayed for the convenience and the location.
The site managers and the area managers do not seem to have the proper information and they get frustrated because the office management can't seem to take care of the details. I feel bad for the field management since they are simply seeing poor examples of communcation and leadership. Not a great roadmap to follow.
If you have few alternatives, take the job; otherwise you can make more elsewhere (where the company has an idea of what is going on). Just too many contradictons and misinformation.
Finally got a better supplemental job without the headaches and the other stuffp. Heard that these guys are better than average in the securty business because they are "locally owned and operated" but they act like they work out of a garage. Smoke and mirrors but the positive side is that you can probably be a senior manager with these guys just with an average work ethic. You can be a superstar if you know business at all. The bar is pretty low but to them, it appears very high.
