Keep in mind how long I have worked for this company. Lowes started out as the best job I had ever had. I loved to go to work, I was surrounded by a great bunch of people, and the managers really cared about the employees. If you had a legitimate gripe you were treated with respect and the managers actually listened to what you had to say. The benefits were fantastic and working there made you feel like you were a part of something big. We made bonuses, received good raises and our 401k was second to none. Over the past few years all this has changed. Our CEO Bob Tillman retired and a man named Robert Niblock took over for him. Ever since this happened our benefits have gone down the tubes. 401k is a shadow of it's former self, bonuses are almost unattainable, health insurance has gone up, and in my store employees are, to an extent treated like numbers. I have actually heard my store manager say in a meeting, when he was addressing a concern of an associate, 'I would say to your employees that are complaining I'm just glad I have a job.' Not the way to treat an issue if it is a legitimate gripe! Our current leadership has cut floor coverage to the bone making it very hard to help customers and get tasks completed. I believe this all starts at the top ie: CEO and board of directors. We even have a lady that owns wal mart on our board! No wonder the excessive employee benefit cuts! I am very thankful to have a job and, I believe, a very good employee who believes in putting 100% into your job no matter what it is. If it gets bad enough I can always go somewhere else I know, but I remember when it was'nt bad. I miss the old Lowes. I'm not a mad, disgruntled employee just somebody who remembers 'how it used to be'. I hope we can go back to the 'good old days' again but I am afraid it isn't to be. 2010 was the first year we did not get a Christmas bonus. We were told they could not afford it this year. I bet the board and Robert Niblock all got bonuses.....
